Jeannine Jahnke graduated from the Wisconsin School of Professional Pet Grooming in 1995. That same year, she launched a mobile grooming service called Pampered Pet, taking her work directly to dog owners across the Fox Valley.
It didn’t take long before she had a loyal following. Customers booked her out months in advance. When she eventually opened Double J Dog Grooming at 1720 E Edgewood Drive in Appleton, many of those same customers followed her through the door.
Some of them are still coming today. More than 30 years later.

Jeannine’s husband Todd retired in 2015 and joined her at Double J. He handles bathing and drying. He is not a groomer. Jeannine is the only one who touches the clippers when it’s time for the cut.

Jeannine completed formal training at the Wisconsin School of Professional Pet Grooming before she ever charged a client. She has been an experienced dog groomer in Appleton since 1995.

Her training also included recognizing common medical conditions, something most groomers never learn. Over the years, Jeannine has alerted customers to melanoma, kidney disease, thyroid problems, epilepsy, and ear infections. Caught early, because someone was paying attention.

Double J Dog Grooming is a home-based shop on Edgewood Drive in Appleton, near Appleton North High School and across from Ballard Plaza on the corner of Ballard and Edgewood.
No lobby full of barking dogs. No wire crates stacked side by side. Solid-grate kennels with hard sides so dogs can’t see or stress each other. Large windows overlooking a fenced yard. Hand drying or warm cage airflow, depending on what your dog is comfortable with.
Dogs that were terrified at other facilities settle in quickly here. Many fall asleep during the drying.
Jeannine calls when your dog is ready. Pick up then or any time before 5:30pm. If you work full time, your dog has water, bathroom breaks, and a calm place to wait. No extra charge either way.
